URBAN OCTOBER
Every year, October is recognized as the month of urban living (Urban October), when the global public, under the auspices of the United Nations (UN-Habitat), dedicates itself to reflecting on the state of our cities and the basic right to adequate housing. At the Faculty of Design (FD), we are joining this global initiative by organizing an international professional event that brings together the academic sphere, the business sector, and young creators.
What does the Urban October program include?
The events at the Faculty of Design offer a rich array of content for students, professionals, and anyone interested in sustainable development:
International conferences: Presentations of innovations resulting from artistic and scientific research work. Key topics include wood as a "time capsule" of the past, biophilic design in work environments, and regenerative strategies for urban cities.
Professional lectures and workshops: Guests from renowned institutions, such as Zaha Hadid Architects from London, introduce students to the use of digital technologies for design innovation.
Exhibitions of student work: Presentations of innovative solutions and projects by FD students exploring the use of wood in interior design and public spaces.
Design Talks: Round tables with established architects, editors, and designers discussing the transition from concept to strategic design management.
Urban October at FD is not merely a celebration of architecture and design, but a platform for responsibly shaping the future of our cities.
GOINGREENGLOBAL
In 2018, the Faculty of Design (FD) established an international platform to support sustainable design, which spreads awareness about the necessity of applying the 3R concept (reduce, reuse, recycle), green technology, humane relations in human resource management, and user-friendly design solutions.
GoinGreenGlobal is an annual international event that represents an intensive professional and academic week, during which the Faculty of Design hosts domestic and foreign practicing professionals, researchers, lecturers, and partners from various European institutions.
It is a platform for the exchange of knowledge, good practices, and interdisciplinary collaboration, enabling students to have direct contact with current professional approaches and an international environment.
GoinGreenGlobal is a thematically structured international week dedicated to the current challenges of contemporary design. It connects the following fields:
