Urban October 2026: continuation of the OFFICE3000 workshop
After a rather intensive first day of the new academic year and Urban October, Friday continued at a slightly slower, but no less creative pace.
The second day was dedicated to the continuation of the OFFICE3000 workshop, in which students explore the relationship between wood, stone, space and contemporary working environments, while considering how local materials, sustainable approaches and thoughtful design can help shape the spaces of the future. Urban October Program 2026
Following the introductory topics and starting points presented on the first day, Friday was all about getting to work. Under the mentorship of Sr. Lect. Petra Kocjančič, students worked in groups and began developing their ideas in greater depth – through research, discussion, initial experiments, testing different possibilities and gradually building their concepts.
And this is, in fact, one of the most interesting parts of the design process. At the beginning, it is not always clear where an idea will lead. Something is tested, something changes, one idea is left behind, while another suddenly opens up an entirely new direction.
Or, as our Vice Dean for Artistic Activities, Asst. Prof. Mojca Perše, simply described it: “Something is taking shape.”
And it really is. 🙂
From First Ideas to Final Presentations
OFFICE3000 was far from finished on Friday. Over the coming days, students will continue working in groups and interdisciplinary teams, researching and developing their concepts. The project will conclude on Friday, 9 October, with presentations by the project teams and the opening of the exhibition OFFICE3000 Conceptual Projects. Urban October Program 2026
The second day of Urban October may have been a little quieter than the first, but it was exactly the kind of day the creative process sometimes needs – full of thinking, collaboration, experimentation and ideas slowly beginning to take shape.
A lovely and creative end to the first week of the new academic year. And Urban October 2026 is only just getting started.
Part of the programme is supported by SPIRIT Slovenia within the promotion of wood.
