On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the first creative workshop for blind and visually impaired participants took place in the pleasant setting of the Holiday Home of the Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Slovenia. The workshop was led by designer and mentor Petra Kocjančič.

Participants had the opportunity to work with wood and recycled materials, using them to create a variety of wearable jewelry—rings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches, and earrings.

The main goal of the workshop was multi-sensory artistic expression, with a special emphasis on touch and materiality. Wood, as a warm and living material, enabled participants to explore different textures, shapes, and processing techniques, deepening their connection with the creative process.

By working with natural and reused materials, we encouraged sustainable thinking and respect for the environment.

In addition to artistic expression, special attention was given to the development of manual skills, fine motor abilities, and a sense of aesthetics. With each piece, participants expressed their individuality, while also connecting with one another in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, sharing experiences and strengthening social bonds.

*The project is co-funded by the European Union under the Creative Europe programme and the Ministry of Public Administration of the Republic of Slovenia.
