Faculty of Design at the International URS Conference in Rome
How can cities become better places to live, more resilient to climate change and more accessible to everyone? These questions were at the heart of the 7th International Conference on Urban Regeneration and Sustainability (URS), held on 22 and 23 October 2026 at Sapienza University of Rome.
The Faculty of Design participated as a co-organiser and was represented by Dean Professor Nada Rožmanec Matičič. In her contribution, she highlighted pressing global challenges and presented examples of good practice that offer pathways towards a more sustainable and inclusive urban future.
This year’s conference brought together perspectives on the adaptive reuse of existing buildings, cultural heritage conservation, green public spaces and community participation in urban planning. Discussions focused on how responsible interventions in the built environment can improve quality of life while addressing the needs of both people and the environment.
Such gatherings provide valuable opportunities for researchers, architects, designers and other professionals to exchange knowledge and experiences. We are pleased that our Faculty contributes to these conversations, sharing its perspective on designing spaces for a better future.
