New project REGFUR

Representatives of the Faculty of Design participated in the REGFUR kick-off meeting, held on 22–23 October 2026 at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences of Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW). The Erasmus+ project connects regional design heritage with contemporary furniture design and develops tools to strengthen the knowledge and competences of students in wood technology, design and related disciplines.

The kick-off meeting introduced all partner organisations and provided an opportunity to review the project objectives and plan the next activities. Partners discussed the timeline, milestones, management and reporting, as well as the initial activities focused on analysing existing education programmes. They also addressed communication, dissemination of results, event planning and tasks for the coming months. The programme included a tour of the host faculty.

REGFUR aims to develop educational content that connects regional design traditions with contemporary production technologies, user needs and the challenges facing the furniture industry. Through collaboration between higher education institutions, chambers of commerce and industry clusters, the project will strengthen knowledge transfer between education and industry.

The Faculty of Design participates as an educational and professional partner. It leads the activity dedicated to preparing national reports on distinctive regions and their design characteristics, while contributing content from Slovenia. It also participates in curriculum analysis, the development of learning materials, testing of the e-learning platform and practical training activities.

Running from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2029, REGFUR brings together nine partner organisations from seven countries. The project is coordinated by Ogólnopolska Izba Gospodarcza Producentów Mebli (OIGPM), the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers. It is implemented under Erasmus+ KA220-VET – Cooperation Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training.

Co-funded by the European Union.
