Opening of the Visual Communications Student Exhibition as Part of EDF

Yesterday, on Monday, June 2, we proudly opened the Ex-Centric Design exhibition, which is part of the European Design Festival & Awards. The event took place in a pleasant, relaxed, and inspiring atmosphere. Over refreshments, we gathered in the Faculty of Design’s entrance hall, exchanged thoughts, and enjoyed the artistic creations of our students.

The opening speech was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Design, Prof. Nada Rožmanec Matičič, who emphasized the importance of such student exhibitions. These events provide students and mentors with a platform to showcase their creativity and research spirit. Mr. Radovan Arnold, President of the Brumen Foundation, and Assistant Professor Nataša Šušteršič Plotajs, the mentor of the project, also addressed the audience. Nataša encouraged the students to explore ex-centric approaches and to seek out new visual perspectives within their field of study.

The exhibition features works by students of Visual Communications on the theme Ex-Centric Design, which challenges traditional design frameworks and opens new perspectives in art and design. The displayed projects, created within the course Visual Communications Studio VI – Graphic Design and Digital Illustration, are a mix of analog and digital techniques, questioning the boundaries between classical drawing, contemporary visual approaches, and personal interpretations of the theme.

This event marked the start of our celebration of the European Design Festival & Awards. We congratulate all students on their creativity, dedication, and exceptional results. Special thanks go to their mentor, Asst. Prof. Nataša Šušteršič Plotajs, for her generous guidance and support. As a faculty, we are proud of our students’ achievements and are delighted to follow their development through exhibitions like this, which are a great source of inspiration and pride for us all.

Authors of the exhibited works:
Katja Glavač, Adam Rus, Hanna Laura Koželj, Maja Marussig, Nika Očko, Nika Jesenčnik, Zala Jenkovec, Vid Skumavec, Robin Pečar, Pablo Turnes Jezeršek, Veronika Kajin, Nauzika Scocchi

Student exhibitions are especially meaningful to us, as they offer a glimpse into diverse creative processes and encourage further exploration and innovation in the world of design.
Congratulations to our students, their mentor, and everyone involved in making this exhibition a reality!

You are warmly invited to visit the exhibition on the ground floor of the Faculty of Design!
