Urban October 2026 is just around the corner
With the beginning of October, a new academic year is starting at the Faculty of Design — and with it, a month once again dedicated to design, space, sustainability, living environments and creative exchange. Today, on September 28th, we meet our new Erasmus students on meet and greet, and on Thrusday, October 1st, we start this journey.
As part of the international initiative Urban October 2026, we will host a rich programme of lectures, workshops, design talks, exhibitions, conferences and meetings with Slovenian and international experts throughout the month of October. This year’s central theme is Adequate Housing for All, opening up important questions about accessible, inclusive, sustainable and human-centred living environments.
A special focus will also be placed on World Habitat Days, the promotion of wood, sustainable materials, the culture of living, the connection between design and business, and the role of designers in shaping future living environments. Part of the programme is also supported by SPIRIT Slovenia within the promotion of wood.
Among the key events of this year’s programme are the opening events and the OFFICE3000 project, the celebration of World Habitat Day, expert lectures and round tables, workshops with international mentors, events at Center Rog, student exhibitions, Ljubljana Fashion Week, Young Design Talents Summer School, and the closing celebration of World Cities Day.
For our students, Urban October is an opportunity for new knowledge, experience, encounters and inspiration — as well as a beautiful beginning to the new academic year. We are looking forward to a creative, diverse and lively month full of content that connects design with current questions of space, community and the future.
