A Week in Belgrade

In September, Assist. Prof. Almina Duraković Korošec and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Damjana Celcar, Head of the Department of Fashion and Textiles, took part in the 9th International Scientific Conference Contemporary Trends and Innovations in the Textile Industry in Belgrade. Organised by the Union of Textile Engineers and Technicians of Serbia, the conference gave them an opportunity to present their paper and join a roundtable discussion on the future of the textile industry, the education of future professionals, and closer ties between education and industry.

The conference was accompanied by Assist. Prof. Almina Duraković Korošec’s solo exhibition R/N-UNO EXPERIMENT, on view from 17 to 27 September at the Nikola Tesla House of Engineers. The exhibition featured works in wool, silk, linen and hemp, created through her exploration of textures and visual compositions.

During the same week, the two professors visited the Faculty of Contemporary Arts (FSU). They were welcomed by Dean Prof. Dr. Dragan Ćalović and faculty members from the Fashion Design and Costume Design programmes. They toured the FSU Fashion Design Studio, exchanged experiences in educating young designers, and discussed opportunities for future collaboration.

The week in Belgrade brought together research, artistic practice and teaching—and, above all, strengthened our faculty’s international connections.
