URBAN OCTOBER:
A Month of Sustainable Design
As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering sustainable and socially responsible design, the Faculty of Design is proud to present Urban October. This annual event focuses on critical global issues such as sustainable development, innovative design practices, spatial and urban planning, and the circular economy. With a lineup of workshops, design talks (panel talks), and collaborations with local and international experts, Urban October offers a unique opportunity to explore the future of sustainable living and design.
The month features two flagship iniciatives—World Habitat Day and New European Bauhaus Day—alongside numerous other workshops and activities designed to inspire and educate the design community.
World Habitat Days ( 7 – 11 October)
World Habitat Days is another highlight of Urban October, where we will emphasize the importance of wood as the material of the future. As part of a national initiative, the Faculty of Design has been selected to promote the use of wood and showcase its many benefits. Through workshops, exhibitions, and roundtable discussions, we will explore wood’s potential to drive sustainable building and design practices. Special attention will be given to encouraging young people to consider careers in woodworking, an industry that promises innovation, growth, and significant opportunities for those who are creatively inclined.
New European Bauhaus Days (9 – 25 October)
The New European Bauhaus Days brings together the vision of sustainability with the creativity of design, making it a key component of Urban October. This event focuses on harmonizing sustainable solutions with aesthetic design and innovation. Participants will have the chance to engage with experts and learn about cutting-edge practices in architecture, design, and circular economy approaches.
