Third day of World Habitat Days 2025

The third day of World Habitat Days 2025 was marked by creativity, research, and collaboration between academia, industry, and young designers. The activities took place both at the Faculty of Design and at the House of Design Management and Innovation (HDMI) on Gerbičeva in Ljubljana.

In the morning, under the mentorship of Jaka Lipar (Institute LILA), a creative workshop for primary school students titled “Geometric Décor and Furniture in the Bauhaus Style” was held. The young participants learned about the principles of Bauhaus design and created their own wooden design pieces inspired by its aesthetics.
Workshop concluded with a certificate ceremony and exhibition, highlighting the importance of hands-on learning, collaboration, and creativity at every educational level.

The afternoon was dedicated to professional development and academic exchange. At the Faculty of Design, Distinguished Prof. Gjoko Muratovski, PhD, Chief Innovation Officer at ICONA Design Group / AIAT (Australia), led a workshop titled “Research for Designers and Design Managers”, organised for members of the Design Management Slovenia (KCDM 4.0) consortium and master’s students. Participants explored research methods in design and discussed the integration of theory and practice in contemporary design management.

Later, Prof. Muratovski delivered a thought-provoking lecture, “AI in Creative Industries”, examining the role of artificial intelligence in creative processes and its impact on the future of design. At the same time, Steiner Valade-Amland (Three Point Zero, Denmark) conducted an expert workshop, “Integrating Design Management and Design Thinking to Leverage Corporate Strategies”, which focused on aligning design thinking with corporate strategy to strengthen innovation capacity within organizations.

The day concluded in an atmosphere of inspiration and connection — hopefully filled with new insights, creative discussions, and valuable exchanges between students, professionals, and educators. Once again, the essence of World Habitat Days and Urban October shone through: the belief that collaboration between education, business, and creativity is the key to shaping a sustainable future.
