New European Bauhaus Days at the Faculty of Design: Workshops and Talks for Students
As part of the ongoing New European Bauhaus Days at the Faculty of Design, our students have already completed two multi-day workshops. The first, Tiny Houses for All in Natural Environment, was led by Jani Demšar, M.A. of Design (Geodetic institute Slovenia). The second, Lost and Found Values of Smallness, was mentored by Andrej Mercina, B.A. Arch., (TRIIIJE).

OPEN FOR PUBLIC
A special highlight of the New European Bauhaus Days will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Center Rog in Ljubljana, with two inspiring Design Talks roundtables on the theme: How can we, in the field of Creative Industries, Use Humanity-Centered Design to Make a Better World?
The event will be opened by the dean of the Faculty of Design, Prof. Nada Rožmanec Matičič, u.d.i.a., with an opening speech, followed by honorable speeches from renowned international experts in design:
- Prof. Tomas Garvey, PhD (President of the World Design Organisation)
- Rozina Spinnoy (Belgium Design Council, BID-Brussels)
- Prof. Rajendra Kumar (Lovely School of Architecture and Design, India) – online
The event will be moderated by Assoc. Prof. Blažka Müller, PhD.
DESIGN TALKS: Roundtable Discussions
The first roundtable will be moderated by Prof. Nada Rožmanec Matičič and Senior Lecturer Tjaša Čakš, MA, featuring speakers:

The second roundtable will be led by Lynne Elvins (Design Rally) with the following panelists:

Exhibition – open for public
Following the roundtable discussions, Assoc. Prof. Martina Kač Nemanič, PhD, will present her inaugural exhibition Visu on the first floor of Center Rog.

In the afternoon, students will attend lectures as part of the AlpTextyles program, exploring the textile heritage of the Alpine region:
- Alpine Textile Heritage: An Ethnological and Historical Perspective by Dr. Katarina Šrimpf Vendramin (ZRC SAZU)
- Textile Chains in the Alps – Sustainability and Circular Economy by Markus Lambracht (remote)
- Aesthetics of Textiles in the Alpine Region by Davide Alesina MAietti (Instituto Marangoni, Italy)
- Textile Design and Haute Couture – Linked to Textile Heritage by designer and costume designer Tadeja Pance
