Challenge to Change: The Education in Fashion

 

Today, an extremely interesting and forward-looking international symposium took place in the City Museum of Ljubljana, led by our lecturer Assoc. Prof. Tanja Devetak (Center for Design Research).

A symposium whose key question was “What should fashion education be like in the future and for the future?” were enriched by experts: prof. dr. Jure Purgaj (University College of Teacher Education Vienna, University of Applied Arts, Vienna, Austria), Nastja Sagadin Grmek (University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, Ljubljana, Slovenia), dr. Monika Rogelj (Gorenjska Museum, Kranj, Slovenia), mag. Barbara Velkov (Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Vocational Education and Training, Ljubljana, Slovenia), prof. dr. Milica Slijepčević (Faculty of Management and Faculty of Digital Arts, Metropolitan University, Belgrade, Serbia) and mag. Karmen Klobasa (Technical Education center Ljubljana, Secondary Vocational and Technical School Bežigrad, Slovenia).

 

They discussed the topics of sustainable challenges, digitization, the use of technologies for social and environmental benefits, the creation of new product visions, comparisons of different cultural and social environments on the development of fashion education, marketing approaches in fashion, anthropological aspects of fashion guidelines, didactics in fashion and modern museumization of fashion and fashion activism.
