Meeting of Project Partners and Professional Training within the DRWO4.0 Project

As project partners of the western pilot environment within the Drwo 4.0 project, we travelled to Kuchl, Austria, to participate in a meeting with other project partners and stakeholders. The purpose of the visit was to attend professional training and networking events aimed at fostering innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable transition in the wood processing industry.

Tuesday, 13 May 2025 – Educational and Professional Programme at FE Salzburg Campus

At the Fachhochschule Salzburg (FE Salzburg) campus, we attended the Train the Trainer” workshop, delivered by the Croatian company Culmena. The workshop was divided into two parts and focused on Lean methodology, which plays a key role in process optimisation and improving efficiency in industrial environments.

The programme continued with a series of expert presentations on best practices and industry transformation in the wood sector:

  • Alexander Pinter (Holzcluster Styria) presented successful cases of transformation in Austrian wood-processing companies.

  • Stefan Kein (SUAS) showcased approaches to green transition with a focus on digital prototyping.

  • Thomas Sepperer (SUAS) discussed the development and application of green biomaterials in the modern wood industry.

  • Veronika Gruden (Faculty of Design) shared examples of wood product design, highlighting the integration of design, functionality, and sustainability.

Following the presentations, we took part in a guided tour of the FE Salzburg research laboratories, where we learned about ongoing research and development activities. We also visited the architectural and interior design of the student dormitory at the Secondary School of Wood Technology in Kuchl, hosted by Hans Rechner (Holztechnikum Kuchl GmbH).

The day concluded with a joint dinner in Salzburg, providing further opportunities for networking among partners and professionals.
