In the academic year 2024/2025, the Faculty of Design was actively involved in international staff mobility, a key component of its mission to promote knowledge transfer, exchange good practices, and strengthen its international reputation. The participation of faculty members in various international events and workshops ensures that the institution stays up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in the field of design.
Here are some highlights of recent mobilities:
IADE, Lisbon, Portugal: “From Hands to Minds”
Assistant Professor Almina Duraković Korošec, MA in Design and Associate Professor Dr. Damjana Celcar participated in the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Program in Lisbon. The mobility focused on pedagogical activities, including a lecture on “From Hands to Minds: Material Exploration as a Tool for Problem-Solving.” The teaching took place from February 24 to 28, 2025, with PhD students in Design and master’s students in Design and Visual Communication. IADE is an internationally recognized top design school with a strong emphasis on project-based learning.

GIDE 25 Workshop, Valencia, Spain: “Common Ground”
Assistant Professor Tamara Hajdu and Assistant Professor Inge Kalan Lipar participated in the international workshop as part of GIDE 25 in Valencia from March 24 to 28, 2025. The workshop’s theme, “Common Ground: Taking care of spaces for everyone,” was aimed at exploring how design can promote inclusion, sustainability, and community well-being. The event brought together international students, academics, and researchers to develop creative solutions for a more resilient urban future, with a focus on Valencia’s coastal environment. The mobility was a part of Erasmus+ BIP, and 10 Interior Design students also attend the international workshop.

Creative Skills Week, Amsterdam: Preparing for the Green and Digital Transition
Vice Dean for Quality and Social Responsibility Veronika Gruden Bole attended the Creative Skills Week event in Amsterdam on September 18 and 19, 2024. The event brought together representatives from academia, industry, and government to shape future competencies in the cultural and creative industries. The focus was on upskilling and reskilling to handle the green and digital transition. This mobility contributes to the Faculty of Design’s pedagogical process by incorporating new knowledge on sustainability and digital skills into the curriculum.

Cumulus Nantes 2025 Conference: “Ethical Leadership”
Vice Dean for International Affairs Jan Krmelj and Vice Dean for Quality and Social Responsibility Veronika Gruden Bole attended the Cumulus Nantes 2025 conference, which took place from June 3 to 7, 2025. The conference, on the theme of “Ethical Leadership: A New Frontier for Design,” strengthened the faculty’s international visibility and opened doors for new Erasmus+ partnerships and joint projects. The conference addressed numerous current topics, including digital ethics, food transition, and the development of regenerative cities.

BEDA Design Forum & EAAE Dean’s Summit
Dean of the Faculty of Design, Prof. Nada Rožmanec Matičič, attended two key events in 2025: the BEDA Design Forum in Brussels, Belgium, and the EAAE Dean’s Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania. The BEDA Forum focused on the future of European design and BEDA’s strategic direction. The EAAE Summit brought together academic leaders to discuss the future of education in architecture and design, with an emphasis on sustainable development, digitalization, and international collaboration.

FEE EcoCampus Conference, Lisbon
Vice Dean for Quality and Social Responsibility Veronika Gruden Bole also attended the 1st International Conference of FEE EcoCampus with the title “Getting Higher Level Education Climate Ready,” which took place in Lisbon from April 26 to 27, 2024. The event, which marked the 20th anniversary of the FEE EcoCampus program, brought together lecturers, sustainability coordinators, researchers, and students from 15 countries to discuss sustainable education, curriculum development, and innovations in the field of sustainability.### Staff Mobility: Spreading Knowledge and Strengthening International Connections
