As part of the Multisensory Art project, which includes partners from three countries, we conducted 12 creative workshops for blind and visually impaired individuals. Of these, eight were two-day workshops. The project is led by the Faculty of Design, with project partners being the University of Dubrovnik (Croatia) and the Faculty of Contemporary Arts (FCA) from Serbia.
The workshops were designed to enable a multisensory approach to artistic expression, allowing participants to interact with art through touch, sound, and smell. The workshops incorporated elements of cultural heritage through traditional techniques and inspirations from various fields of art. In addition, we followed a sustainable approach by using recycled materials and materials collected from nature.
Special attention was also given to ensuring that participants enjoyed the workshops, made new connections, and had the opportunity to express various emotions through the creations they made. In each workshop, participants created at least one item for themselves and one for sale. The items will be sold at the library for the blind and visually impaired in Novo Mesto, and the proceeds will be used to purchase aids for the blind.
The works created by the blind and visually impaired participants were also exhibited in exhibitions across all three countries, thereby presenting the results of their work to the public. The experiences gained during the workshops will serve as a valuable foundation for upcoming exhibitions planned later in the project timeline.
